CBD, a new solution to Covid-19?
According to a recent U.S. study published in the National Library of medicine and led by scientist Richard Van Breeman, CBD could help us to overcome the pandemic that continues to progress by going against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Two substances present in the hemp plant could finally allow us to be protected.
Researchers from Oregon State University (OSU) and Oregon Health and Science University, in the United States, have made this surprising discovery. It is with the help of several studies on different plants such as red clover, wild yam, hops or licorice that scientists have managed to find a supposed solution to our problem: CBD would have an affinity with the peak protein of Covid-19, better known as "Spike", in order to make it harmless. CBD could thus act as the body's protector against Covid-19.
A promising study
The plant with many virtues is made up of several cannabinoids, but two compounds of hemp seem to stand out.
Indeed, were raised on the latter to carry out this experiment: the cannabigerolic acid, also known as CBG-A and the cannabidiolic acid also known as CBD-A. Like CBD, the cannabinoids mentioned above are not controlled substances like THC, the psychoactive molecule present in marijuana, so they do not represent any danger for health.
Both acids play an important role in inhibiting SARS-CoV-2 infection on healthy cells.

The combination of the virus and cannabinoids mixed with healthy cells has shown promise. The result? The experiment showed after 24 hours that no cell had been contaminated by the virus.
However, to act effectively, the two active ingredients must be taken carefully and separately to create a specific drug. The efficacy of the covid-blocking effects of CBD come from a high purity with specific doses. Therefore, traditional consumption of CBD by sublingual, oral or dermal route is not effective in fighting Covid-19. You can not smoke or vape CBD to see any results because it is going to burn those acids.
Studies show that CBD could be effective on the Alpha and Beta variants of the coronavirus. Scientists are especially excited because the acids could deal with Omicron and perhaps, they say, on future mutations.
But we prefer to warn you because these studies do not prove, for the moment, anything about its effectiveness against SARS-CoV-2, CBD is not a miracle drug. Do not consume CBD thinking about avoiding catching the virus. If you have any doubts, think of consulting your doctor.
