CBD against allergies: is it effective?
CBD against allergies
Allergy season is slowly setting in and for many of us, runny noses and itchy, swollen eyes are becoming a daily problem. For some, it's an inconvenience, for others it's an ordeal! This may be the case for you or someone close to you... and sometimes you may forget to take your medication or you may be reluctant to do so and look for a more natural way. At Cakespace we've looked into this for you. What can CBD do for your allergies? CBD for allergies: does it really work?
What is an allergy?
An allergy is a set of symptoms that occurs upon exposure to an allergen, it is an overreaction of the immune system to a particular substance. It can manifest itself in several forms. An allergy can be caused by food, dust, animal hair, material or mould. There are many different allergies and allergens.
Each time you come into contact with an allergen, your body will react in an inappropriate way and will therefore show allergy symptoms.
The allergy appears in two phases:
The first phase is sensitisation to the allergen, which does not show any signs and therefore goes unnoticed.
The second phase is the revelation during which the symptoms will appear. It will then become a habit with each exposure to the allergen.
In the case of allergic rhinitis, the immune system creates antibodies against allergens such as tree pollen, grass pollen and other external irritants.
It is quite possible for you to become allergic to an allergen during your life, you are not necessarily born with it.

What is allergic rhinitis (or hay fever)?
The best known and most common allergy is allergic rhinitis (or hay fever). It is characterized by a tingling nose, sneezing and a runny nose. If you're out walking or exploring and your nose suddenly feels stuffy, it may be due to allergic rhinitis, so don't worry.
Allergic rhinitis is not accompanied by fever, but it can cause sleep disturbances because it prevents you from breathing properly. It increases the risk of sinusitis as well as ear infections and asthma. In the worst case scenario, it can prevent you from going to work or school, or worse, interfere with your daily life.
The main antibody responsible for allergic reactions is histamine. That's why you will be prescribed antihistamines to inhibit the action of the antibodies. However, they are sometimes accompanied by side effects such as extreme fatigue, nausea or difficulty seeing. This is where our beloved CBD comes in!
CBD's action against allergies
We often talk to you about the benefits of CBD, even all the time, and the more time goes by, the more we discover what it has in store for us.
CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of the hundred or so cannabinoids found in the hemp plant. Unlike its sulfurous cousin, THC, CBD is not psychoactive, on the contrary, it is a very good natural remedy. Present in various fields such as cosmetics, it has proven its effectiveness against certain problems encountered.
As a natural antihistamine and immune booster, CBD is full of solutions to help you soothe your allergies naturally and without worry. A 2005 pre-clinical study shows that CBD has an essential role to play as an antihistamine and especially in managing your immune system.
Cannabinoids, such as CBD, can easily act on your body through your endocannabinoid system, which is responsible for pain reduction. The effects of CBD are many and varied.
CBD strengthens the immune system. Your body will register its action as a messenger from itself, creating a positive effect on your nervous system. Its anti-inflammatory benefits will play a role in the release of inflammatory substances such as histamines, preventing them from interacting with your body.
Not to mention its relaxing and soothing effect that will help you deal with the stress of allergies you may encounter. We know that allergies can be hell on a daily basis and especially during sleep, CBD allows you to relax and spend a very pleasant night.
Moreover, known to regulate emotions, CBD increases your serotonin level, the so-called happiness hormone.
CBD is a great ally against pollen allergies.

The right dosage
CBD can be administered in different ways. You can vaporize it, apply it topically with CBD creams to your irritations - we explain its benefits on the skin in our article on cosmetics - or you can take it sublingually.
The sublingual route is the most common method and the one we recommend for quick and effective effects.
The administration of CBD oil is done by a few drops under the tongue. Its graduated pipette will allow you to easily measure the quantity of oil you wish to administer.
For a perfect dosage, it is preferable to start with a bioavailability of 10% and then increase as the process goes on. We explain the bioavailability in our article on it.
Our little tip? Our fresh range, which helps you breathe better thanks to its terpenes and peppermint taste.
Of course, CBD is not a miracle solution, but if you are looking for a natural alternative without side effects, then CBD is the best solution to relieve your allergies.
