The Benefits of CBD on Cats and Dogs

When used correctly and in the right dosage, CBD products seem to improve the quality of life for dogs and cats, so much so that more and more veterinarians are recommending their use as complementary therapy. To give you an idea, here is a list of the main areas of action of Cannabidiol for animals! 

Pain and Mobility. In 2018, researchers at Cornell University conducted a study on the effects of CBD on osteoarthritis in dogs, with stunning results: over 80% of the dogs experienced significantly reduced pain and increased mobility! 

Sleep and Anxiety. In a 2016 study by U.S. veterinarians, more than half of those surveyed noted an improvement in anxiety and sleep symptoms in their pets. 

Aggressivity. Because we are immediately in a better mood when we are less stressed! This is what Italian researchers have discovered, when they administered CBD to shelter dogs, which the molecule helped to reduce their aggressive behavior!

Many diseases. In this same study conducted by American veterinarians, 77.6% of respondents who used CBD on their animals indicated that they used it to relieve the symptoms of a disease: osteoarthritis, but also epilepsy, or even cancer!

Especially since 62.4% felt that these CBD products were more effective than other treatments ... This deserves serious attention, right?

What type of CBD should you use for an animal?

If CBD seems to work well for our favorite hairballs, it does not mean that we can give them any product. No need to let Bailey pull on your vape ...

For dogs and cats, the best product remains CBD oil: it is the easiest to administer, to dose, and above all, it is the fastest acting! 

We therefore advise you to pour a few drops of oil directly into your pet's mouth, so that the molecule is directly absorbed by the oral mucosa. And if Tiger is acting up, don't hesitate to mix it with his food. 

How to dose Cannabidiol for Cats and Dogs?

If Cannabis is most often harmless, our small furry friends are however not safe from poisoning with too strong a dose. That's why it's important to dose the product we administer. 

We hope you haven't forgotten our motto: start low, go slow. Well, it also applies to animals! If it’s possible for you, do not hesitate to ask your vet for advice, and especially, start with a weak dose: one generally advises between 0,2 and 0,5 mg of CBD per kilo. You can then increase very gradually, while carefully monitoring the reactions of your pet. If your pet starts vomiting, shaking, feeling disoriented or having digestive problems, something is wrong, and in this case, don't wait to consult a vet!
